Welcome to the Wild by Nature Photo Contest, dedicated to promoting animal welfare through photography.
Awards
The competition has two categories — Wildlife and Domestic Animals — and the winner of each category will receive one of the following inspiring photography-themed prizes of their choice:
A Photography Adventure!
A floating hide experience with Mia Surakka (Pirkanmaa, Finland).
New Inspiration!
A gift card for private landscape photography tuition with Mikael Rantalainen (via Teams).
Beautiful Photo Art!
A fine art print by Risto Raunio of your choice.
The audience vote winner
The audience vote winner in both categories can choose from the following prizes:
A £50 gift card for a course at ICM Photo Academy.
A gift card for evening tea at Tiluksilla Farm.
Tiluksilla is a small, warm-hearted 1940s farm in Vihti, Finland, where a diverse group of animals lives surrounded by beautiful countryside. Life on the farm reflects animal welfare at its best. With a gift card, you are invited to enjoy evening tea in the peaceful rural setting, in the company of animals.
An Impressive Jury
The photographs will be evaluated by National Geographic Explorer, biologist and nature conservation photographer Lana Tannir.
In addition, the images will be assessed from an animal welfare perspective by non-fiction author, animal trainer and animal welfare advocate Tuire Kaimio.
Supporting Nature Conservation
The contest includes an optional participation fee (see Rule 6) to support animal welfare and conservation efforts. The fee is paid directly to BirdLife Finland’s account. The recommended participation fee is €10 per category. The fee is voluntary and does not affect the competition results.
Schedule
The competition opens on 1 March 2026. The final day to submit entries is 15 April 2026. The winners will be announced on 26 May 2026.
