Kaisa Sirén’s Iceberg Graveyard collection
Kaisa Sirén has always been drawn to the beauty of Arctic and Antarctic landscapes. This collection explores the vanishing ice of the polar regions as a result of climate change. Through poetic abstractions, the work reflects the progression of global warming, which is affecting polar areas more rapidly than many other parts of the world.
Due to the remoteness and lack of permanent human habitation in these regions, the vast scale of the problem remains difficult to fully grasp. Captured in Greenland, Antarctica, Svalbard, Norway, and Iceland, the images are impressions of the fragile beauty this world represents and the impending loss we face.
